After drying, first clean your shoes with a brush to remove loose dust and dirt. Then use a cleaning or care foam, for example, to remove dirt.

Shoes that are worn particularly frequently should be cleaned, cared for and waterproofed once a week. Only use high-quality, material-specific cleaning and care products (no water/detergent) from specialist retailers. These nourish and protect the material - for a long lifetime.

Waterproof your shoes in summer and winter before wearing them for the first time and regularly thereafter (about every tenth wear; more often if the weather is bad or you wear them frequently) to ensure lasting material protection against moisture and soiling.

TIP: Lightly and repeatedly waterproof your shoes with a waterproofing spray or foam. Soaking of the shoes should be avoided at all costs.

Open the laces of the shoe as wide as possible so that you can put it on and take it off easily. Always put each shoe on with a shoehorn.

When you have just taken off your shoes, place them on wooden shoe trees that are suitable for the shape of your shoes. The shoe tree maintains the shape of your shoe, smoothes creases and makes further care easier.

Use shoe trees made of cedar wood as they are best at absorbing moisture. The essential oils in the wood also act as a shoe deodorant.

Give your shoes a break of at least 24 hours.
TIP: The best way to allow your shoes to "breathe" is to lay them on their side on a wooden shoe tree.

Whether just taken off or damp: Your shoes should dry at room temperature, but never on the radiator. This protects the leather and prevents the material from ageing quickly. Wait until the shoes have dried before cleaning and caring for them.

You can extend the life of your shoes if you have them resoled or have the heels replaced in good time.
